CRSO does Shakespeare

CRSO May 2014 flyer A4

The City of Rochester Symphony Orchestra invites you to an evening celebrating the life and works of William Shakespeare at the Central Theatre on Saturday, May 24th.

The orchestra will perform Weber’s Oberon overture, inspired by the character in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, who was the consort to Titania, the Queen of the Fairies, along with Elgar’s depiction of Falstaff, the vain and boastful character who appears in Henry IV Parts one and two and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Finally, Shakespeare’s tale of tragic love, Romeo and Juliet, has inspired many musical works and, therefore, the orchestra will perform the 2nd suite by Berlioz. With such a variety of composers this will undoubtedly be a splendid way to remember the world’s most famous playwright.

The mix of classic literature with classical music is an irresistible one, as proven with our enchanting production of Alice last year, featuring members of the CRSO. Thanks to their generosity again, we’re delighted to offer the Friends of the Rochester Literature Festival a 50% discount on all adult and concession tickets. Ticket prices can be seen on the attached flyer, ranging from (after discount) £4.50 – £8. To book, please email us so we can arrange your tickets with the CRSO. Children and students under 18 will still be £1.
