Higham writers are also recruiting! Poets – scribblers – experienced or inexperienced short story and memoir writers – raconteurs – good listeners – anyone who wants to get published or anyone who doesn’t, but wants to share their writing with other like minded writers.
The group is tutor led by Denise Leppard, an experienced freelance writer, and the group is kept small and informal in order to give everyone a chance to read, listen and learn.
Members do need the time to write at home and a computer or typewriter to print out work, and the willingness to learn at their Monday morning meetings. With the accent on enjoying the process, meetings are structured to introduce all genres of writing – magazine writing for both local and national publications, internet competitions, writing and presenting work for public performance, plays and sketches, memoirs, factual articles, or fiction. They have presented many public readings of their work in aid of the Ellenor Hospice.
Members have the opportunity to get published on their web site, and they are currently investigating getting their work into print via an e-book. Maybe you have your own project – they can help you get started. They have members working on their memoirs and family history or who have novels in mind.
