We’re very happy to confirm that this year’s festival – ‘Live’n’Local’– will take place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October.
On Saturday, we will be based at the Guildhall Museum, where our opening speaker is Sir Robert Worcester, Chairman of the national Magna Carta 800th anniversary committee. He will be speaking about the official book ‘Magna Carta – The Foundation of Freedom 1215 – 2015’ and no doubt touching on how the signing of the historic document informed the siege of Rochester Castle in October the same year.
A history writing workshop will take place in the morning at the museum, and our popular Cafe Crawl will see poets popping up in various places in the afternoon, prior to Sir Robert’s talk at 4pm.
On Sunday, we will de-camp to Sun Pier House, with a programme of author talks, workshops and discussions. We’re also awaiting confirmation on what will be a simply stunning event for Sunday evening – fingers crossed, folks, as you won’t want to miss it!
The festival theme fits our partnership project with Ideas Test, and will feature local writers and/or a sense of place, with stories set in and around Kent. More information on the project itself and the writers commissioned will be released in due course.
