Christina casts her creative eye over our programme for the upcoming Dickens Festival weekend.
The RLF is back this summer’s Dickens Festival weekend with another fantastic programme with performances from some brilliant authors and performers. This year we will be based at the beautiful, newly refurbished Eastgate House (Dickens’ once referred to it as ‘The Nuns’ House’ in The Mystery of Edwin Drood) which now accommodates exhibitions dedicated to the history of the house.
Join us at Rochester Children’s Library during the Dickens Festival for Poetrees inspired by the great man’s works. Or choose your Dickens Name and write your very own great work, starring the character you would have been!
It’s all free and there’s no need to book, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
Saturday, June 10 from 10.30am-1pm.
With many thanks to the City of Rochester Society for their grant support again this year, which enables the event to take place.
This year’s Garden Party is again a little different – we’re taking up residence at the Dickens Festival from 3-5 June, with activities ongoing throughout the three days to celebrate our most famous writer.
What began as a bit of fun to celebrate the opening of the 2015 Dickens Festival, turned out to be an inspired crowd puller!
Even cuddly toys and paper animals adopted new names, courtesy of their humans, so I thought I’d add the Name Game here for you to play too.
