The next Writers’ Winter Rendezvous will be on Thursday 13th December, from 7.30pm till late, at the Two Brewers pub in Rochester High Street. A chance to meet informally with other writers for drinks and conversation, networking and maybe even collaborations.
Our Artistic Director, Philip, is seeking contributors for the relaunched blog The Regenerate, “words and images inspired by Medway”. If you’d like a chance to write and publish regularly, it’s a good opportunity and there will be monthly assignments or projects for contributors to follow up if short on ideas.
Meanwhile, Wolfs Head and Vixen Morris are recruiting new dancers and musicians in readiness for the 2013 dancing season. They perform in the Border Morris tradition (that means sticks, and no hankies being waved around), and were the first ever “Goth Morris”. Newcomers are welcomed and will be taught patiently – they’re a friendly bunch, in spite of the scary appearance when in full kit! They hold practise sessions on Wednesday evenings in Rochester, and on alternate Sunday afternoons in Gillingham.
If you’d like to meet them “in the flesh” W&V will be at a Christmas cultural celebration being held at Rochester Community Hub (that’s the library and adult education centre in Eastgate!) on the afternoon of 15th December. Prospective recruits are welcome to go along to their Christmas party that same evening at the Good Intent.
Phil will be featured in the December issue of our Emma’s excellent WOW magazine, so watch out for that one. He has officially taken up the role of editor for a journal called The Divine Animal, which should “go live” at the beginning of January; more news of that very soon!
Finally, if you’re looking for a Christmas gift for a pony mad child, Jane Ayre’s Matty and the Racehorse is free to download until 27th November!
